Guests of Honor

We're so happy to welcome our Guests of Honor to Newcon PDX 6!

Kimberly Brooks

Born and raised in Southern California, Kimberly Brooks is an industry proven voiceover dynamo, gaining recognition for her performances on many respected animated shows and interactive video games. In addition to having one of the more sought after commercial voices, Kimberly is also known for her extensive on-air promo work with networks such as NBC, FOX, SoapNet, Investigation Discovery and is currently “the voice” of E! South Africa.

Kimberly has been performing since she was eight years old. Growing with her craft, she became a theater major in college and ultimately leveraged her years of performance experience and got her start in animation voiceover on the cult-classic Nickelodeon show “Rugrats”. She also voiced LUNA the keyboardist/back-up singer for the HEX GIRLS, the eco-goth rock band, featured in “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated.” Some more of Kimberly’s more recent animated work can be heard on Disney Jr’s show “Doc McStuffins” playing a dynamic range of characters including Doc’s Mom, Dr. Maisha McStuffins as well as the spunky SURFER GIRL. She can also be heard on Netflix’s reboot of the classic cartoon “Voltron” voicing the brave & honorable PRINCESS ALLURA, on Nickelodeon’s “Winxs Club” voicing the fiendishly wicked STORMY, on Cartoon Network’s show “Steven Universe” as the tough & gritty baddy, JASPER, and on the critically acclaimed Comedy Central show “South Park” as the ethically questionable CLASSI, as well as many other animated shows.

Kimberly’s work in interactive video games includes the “tough-but-fair” ASHLEY WILLIAMS on the beloved “Mass Effect” Series. She can also be heard on the “Batman: Arkham” game series as the ORACLE, as well as the notable roles as DAISY FITZROY in “BioShock Infinte: Burial at Sea” and BAD JUJU in the more recent “Skylanders: Imaginators”.

With a voiceover resume that rounds out with well-known NARRATION performances on shows such as Oxygen’s Killer Couples, Kimberly Brooks is truly a voiceover tour de force.

Joe Ochman

Connecticut native, Joe Ochman, has acted professionally in films, television, stage, commercials, video games, animation, anime and recorded books for over thirty years. For a TV-addicted, movie-cartoon- avid-reading- comic-book- sci-fi freak, it’s been the perfect way to make a living.

In the gaming world, Joe most recently worked on Fallout 4. He voiced Chloe’s father William Price in Life Is Strange, and voiced (and motion-captured) Professor Harold MacDougall in Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare DLC. He also voiced roles in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, The Evil Within, Murdered: Soul Sacrifice, Lichdom: Battlemage, World of Warcraft, Diablo III, Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight and many more. He has several huge upcoming titles he is not yet allowed to reveal… at pain of death. Joe’s voice has been heard in diverse roles all over the anime universe, in shows like Naruto, Marvel’s Blade, Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Digimon, Duel Masters, Wolf’s Rain, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Cowboy Beebop, Zatch Bell, Mon Colle Knights, Shinzo, Flint the Time Detective and many, many more.

On TV, he guest starred on Showtime’s House of Lies and Weeds, and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior for CBS. Joe recurred as a guest star on CSI and Sleeper Cell. He has shown up on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lois & Clark, Seinfeld, Will & Grace, House, West Wing, NYPD Blue, Desperate Housewives, That’s My Bush and many others. In animated TV, he’s worked on Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins.

In film, he has worked on The Purge: Anarchy, Never Been Kissed, Space Jam, Officer Down (for Lifetime) and a bunch of indie films: Saving Lincoln, House of the Rising Sun, Black And Blue, Dead Game and Donald And Dot Clock Found Dead In Their Home, among others. In animated film, he appeared in the Oscar-nominated Ernest & Celestine and the National Film Award winning Delhi Safari.

Historically speaking, he played a very stoned ghost of Benjamin Franklin in How High (a role he also played - straight and alive - in The Franklin Spirit, a multi media presentation in the US Pavilion at the 2005 World Expo in Aichi, Japan…and on the Today Show).

History and non-fiction feature prominently in Joe’s audiobook work, including such titles as Countdown to Zero Day, Antifragile, Law of the Jungle, Island of Vice, The Revolution Was Televised, Would You Baptize An Extraterrestrial? and Are You Smart Enough to Work at Google? – plus fiction like Justin Cronin’s The Summer Guest.

The stage has always been Joe’s first love, though, and he has fulfilled that romance in dozens of plays. He also writes for film and TV - his horror comedy Meet Kap Soan will be shooting in Thailand in Winter 2016-17.

Finally, he coaches acting to an eclectic celebrity clientele (including Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Dave Bautista and rock legend Alan Parsons), and is an award winning stagedirector.

SUSPENSE Radio

"A weekly anthology of notable melodramas from stage & screen, fiction & radio, presented each week to bring you to the edge of your chair- to keep you in…SUSPENSE!”

During radio’s heyday in the 1930s and 1940s, anthology programs were wildly popular. But even among classics such as ‘Inner Sanctum’, ‘Lights Out!’ and ‘The Whistler’, one series stood out: SUSPENSE. Featuring a virtual who’s-who of Hollywood royalty, SUSPENSE ran for an unprecedented 20 years and 900-plus episodes before finally going off the air on September 30th, 1962- a date that is widely considered the end of radio’s ‘Golden Age’.

However, that wasn’t the end of the SUSPENSE story. Fifty years later, John C. Alsedek and Dana Perry-Hayes revived the series, with all-new stories and a style reminiscent of the original without being a copy. Since its premiere on SiriusXM on September 30th, 2012, SUSPENSE has aired on nearly 300 radio stations worldwide, including Radio New Zealand, Wisconsin Public Radio, and Pacifica Radio flagship station KPFA. It has also been nominated three times for the Peabody Awards, as well as for the Young Artists Awards and Young Entertainer Awards.

The re-imagined SUSPENSE includes the same type of murder/mystery tales that its predecessor was famous for producing. However, it also frequently ventures into other genres: horror, science fiction, comedy/satire, even ‘Twilight Zone’-style fantasy. We’re able to do this because of the eclectic and ever-growing stable of Hollywood actors guesting on SUSPENSE. Recent guest stars include Drake Bell (‘Drake & Josh’), Zach Callison (‘Steven Universe’), Tony Dow (‘Leave It to Beaver’), Susan Eisenberg (‘Justice League’), Dave Foley (‘Newsradio’), Torri Higginson (‘This Life’), Amy Pemberton (‘Legends of Tomorrow’), Robert Picardo (‘Star Trek Voyager’), and Adrienne Wilkinson (‘Xena’).
